Florida has 67 counties. Right now the compute is stacking up in a handful of them. We think every county should get a shot at the tax base, the grid investment, and the jobs that come with it — not just the metros.
The case

Treat it that way.
Roads, ports, and fiber all got built because Florida decided they were worth building. Data centers are the same category of decision — and the counties that sit them out do not get a second chance at the tax base.
Every county, not just five
Rural counties carry the same permitting burden as metros with a fraction of the staff. We want a statewide siting standard so a small county can compete for a project without hiring a law firm to do it.
Tax base that stays put
A facility is assessed where it sits. For a county with a thin commercial roll, one project can move the number that funds the sheriff's office and the schools.
Grid built for the load
Large loads should pay for the transmission they require. We support cost-allocation rules that put that cost on the facility rather than on residential ratepayers.
Water, on the record
Cooling water is the fair question to ask, and we ask it first. We back closed-loop and air-cooled designs and public reporting of withdrawals in every water management district.

A statewide siting standard
One checklist, one clock, one set of requirements a county can apply without custom legal work. Local governments keep the final vote — they just stop paying to reinvent the process every time.
Large-load tariffs that protect ratepayers
Facilities above a set threshold should be on a rate class that covers the transmission and generation they trigger, with the terms filed publicly at the Public Service Commission.
Disclose withdrawals, prefer closed-loop
Annual public reporting of consumptive use for any facility over the threshold, and permitting preference for closed-loop and air-cooled cooling in every water management district.
Train the techs at Florida colleges
Fund electrical, HVAC, and network technician programs at the state and community colleges nearest to sited projects, so the operating jobs go to people who already live there.
